Your Inside Scoop to the Suits and Styles of the ESPN Monday Night Football Analyst Team
Monday Night Football – week 7, the Patriots vs the Jets on a cool night at the Meadowlands in New Jersey. If you were there for the football, you didn’t get much. But if you stuck around for the style, the ESPN analysts were hot as always in their Britches Bespoke custom suits! Here is Mark Rykken’s description of what they wore:
Joe Tessitore – Play by Play Analyst
Joe’s suit was navy with a light blue and grey deco stripe. His shirt was a rich blue solid in an end on end weave. His tie was navy and red and woven in an elegant oval art deco pattern, and his pocket square was white with a reddish rose-colored border. I have stated in the past that as a general rule the pocket square should have more of a relationship with the shirt than with the dominate color of the tie. However, it is perfectly fine to have your pocket square highlight a specific color in the ties pattern, as in the case with Joe’s square highlighting the red in his tie.
Booger McFarland – Analyst
Booger’s suit was a marine blue glen plaid with a subtle light blue windowpane over-check, and styled in a peak lapel. His shirt was a light blue broadcloth with a white stripe. His tie was gold and navy and woven in a small dressy geometric pattern, and his pocket square was blue with a white border. A quick lesson in design: A peak lapel as opposed to a notch lapel is a good styling choice with a plaid or windowpane suit pattern due the continuous angle that a peak lapel gives you which cuts across and helps to counter the box design of the plaid.
John Parry – Rules and Officiating Analyst
John’s suit was an elegant medium grey sharkskin. His shirt was a sophisticated multi deco stripe in light blue, navy, and white. His tie was burgundy that had a light blue and light tan woven diamond pattern in it, and his pocket square was blue with a white border. This outfit is another good example for individuals to study that have light to medium complexion and hair color such as John’s. The contrast in John’s outfit is reduced by the choice of wearing medium grey as opposed to a dark grey, and the close together multi blue stripes in his shirt do a good job to help diffuse the white in the pattern. And his tie has two colors in the pattern that compliment his individual coloring. The light blue in the tie is his eye color, and the light tan is his hair color.
