The Britches Bespoke Story

I’m Rick Hindin. In 1967 David Pensky and I opened Britches of Georgetowne and “fine clothiers since 1967 “was woven into every Britches of Georgetowne label. The company grew to 110 stores and was sold in 1988. My love of retail, fashion and the Britches brand I helped create, drew me back into the business and Britches Bespoke was created.

And, I won’t be doing it alone.

Full circle is an understatement. Britches Bespoke is a reunion of myself and a former Britches of Georgetowne employee and dear friend Mark Rykken. In his 18 year with Britches, Mark was “Guardian” of the brand he loved and with hundreds of men and women the chain grew to 110 stores across the United States. When Britches was sold in 1988, Mark Rykken joined famed fashion luminary, Alan Flusser, who created the clothing for Michael Douglas in the movie “Wall Street.” and opened the first Alan Flusser Custom Tailoring Shop in the country in Washington DC. In 2008 Mark joined the legendary retailer, Paul Stuart in New York as Director of Custom Clothing, a position he held for 7 years.

Today, Mark is the driving fashion force behind Britches Bespoke, including the creation, taste level and execution of the 10 Custom signature Collections he inspired.
