Seersucker suit
Few if any fabrics do a better job at keeping one cool while standing up performance wise to extreme heat and humid weather. Shown here is our tan and off white unconstructed Seersucker suit, our homage to the first color palette created. Originally traded in India in the 1600s it was know as “Shirushakar” which in Persian is “milk and sugar”. The name was given because the first pattern was made with a light tan (cane sugar) and a creamy white (milk). The English adopted the fabric and began to title it “seersucker”. The recognizable wrinkling or puckering is produced by a unique process known as slack-tension weaving. The puckering keeps the fabric off the skin, allowing more air flow to keep one cool and comfortable. And because seersucker is wrinkled by nature, its ideal for traveling and vacations. It was popularized in the USA in the 1920s by the dandy Ivy Leaguers of Princeton and went on from there to drape the bodies of some of the most stylish men in history.
