Your Inside Scoop to the Suits and Styles of the ESPN Monday Night Football Analyst Team
All we can say is, what a game! The Giants and Cowboys rivalry is a long-standing tradition and this particular meetup had some great plays, some questionable calls and one now-very-famous black cat! The Giants came out strong in the opening play but a string of penalties and turnovers (and maybe some black-magic) later, succumbed to the Cowboys 37-18. The ESPN MNF booth came out strong and stayed strong throughout the game (no black magic here) in custom Britches Bespoke suits. Mark Rykken describes what they wore:
Joe Tessitore – Play by Play Analyst
Joe wore a classic navy and grey suit ensemble that featured a charcoal grey bead stripe with the stripes about ¾” apart. His shirt was an elegant navy, grey, and white antique stripe with the stripes about a ¼” apart, and it was accompanied with a beautiful silver ground tie that had a generously spaced navy and grey foulard pattern in it. His pocket square was white with a grey border. Since the modern suit era which began in the 1920s with the emergence of the Ivy League Sack Suit, the most popular suiting ensemble color palette has been the combination of navy and grey. Even the classic navy blazer is traditionally paired with grey trousers, be it in flannel for the Winter or tropical worsted’s for the Summer. In my professional opinion, you will rarely see a navy and grey suit, shirt, and tie ensemble as well executed and sophisticated as what Joe wore on Monday night.
Booger McFarland – Analyst
Booger wore an elegant and dressy navy suit that had a self herringbone pattern in it. His shirt was a bold navy and white stripe, and it was accompanied with a dark burgundy ground tie with a navy and white geometric pattern, and a white pocket square with a navy blue border. Booger looks great in outfits that produce a fair amount of contrast, but are somewhat countered by wearing ties that complement his coloring. The example in this outfit is that his suit and shirt produce quite a bit of contrast, but it is offset somewhat with the burgundy tie, which happens to be a very flattering color for Booger.
John Parry – Rules and Officiating Analyst
John wore a beautiful medium blue glen plaid suit with a light blue window pane over-check in it. His shirt was a rich deep blue with a self herringbone pattern, and he wore it with perhaps my favorite tie, an elegant gold, navy, and light blue woven silk tie in a paisley pattern. His pocket square was blue with a white border.John’s suiting ensemble really shows off how flattering ones clothes can be when the proper colors are chosen to compliment ones hair, skin, and eye color. This outfit for John is about as good as it gets as a visual example of this principle.
