Your Inside Scoop to the Suits and Styles of the ESPN Monday Night Football Team

Joe Tessitore – Play by Play Analyst

Joe wore an elegant navy suit that had a light blue deco stripe in it. He wore it with a medium blue and white stripe shirt, along with a navy ground silk tie that had a generously space cream and light blue geometric pattern in it. The final detail was his pocket square, which was white with a navy border.

In game 14 Joe’s ensemble also featured blue as the primary color, yet in this outfit the ground of Joe’s shirt is mostly blue instead of white, giving it a softer less formal appearance. Solid white, or predominantly white ground shirts have always been associated with formal business dress, yet depending on one’s coloring, not everyone looks their best in white. Joe is lucky in that with his coloring there is very few things in which he doesn’t look good. If someone has a fair complexion with light hair, they will look washed out wearing white. Individuals with this type of coloring will always look much better wearing blue shirts instead of white.

Booger McFarland – Analyst

Booger wore a Marine blue birds-eye suit styled with a peak lapel. He wore it with a beautiful multi blue and white deco stripe shirt, and accompanied with a sophisticated woven silk paisley tie in burgundy, navy, and white. His pocket square was white with a navy border.

I also put Booger primarily in blue tonight, but added a touch of color in his tie in the form of deep wine or burgundy, which is a great color for Booger. I’ve spoken a lot about how scale is the key to putting patterns together. However, if one is uncomfortable trying to make three patterns work together, try implementing the 2 and 1, or the 1 and 2 Rule. The 2 and 1 Rule is putting together 2 patterns with one solid. An example would be wearing a patterned suit, a solid shirt, and a patterned tie – or you could wear a solid suit with a patterned shirt and tie. The 1 in 2 Rule is putting I patterned component with 2 solid components, such as a solid suit, a patterned shirt, and a solid tie. Of course, this is the easiest of the two rules. In Booger’s case, on Monday he went with the 2 and 1 Rule, a solid suit with a patterned shirt and tie.

John Parry – Rules and Officiating Analyst

John wore a medium blue tic-weave suit. He wore it with a blue and white antique stripe shirt, and he accompanied it with an elegant woven silk paisley tie in gold, navy, and light blue. This is by far my favorite outfit for John. He has the type of coloring that I was speaking about in Joe’s segment above. John has a fair to medium skin complexion, light brown hair which he keeps cropped short, and his eyes are blue. Everything about John’s outfit was designed to highlight and flatter his individual coloring. You can go back and read past posts to get more detailed explanations on this concept as I have discussed it many times throughout the season. Also note that I used the 2 and 1 rule for Johns final ensemble for the last game of season!

It has been an honor and thrill to have outfitted Booger, Joe, and John for the 2019 MNF Season!

Have a Happy and stylish New Year from Britches Bespoke!

Cheers!
