Your Inside Scoop to the Suits and Styles of the ESPN Monday Night Football Analyst Team

Joe Tessitore – Play by Play Analyst

Joe wore a classic Oxford grey bird’s eye suit with a navy, grey, and white antique striped shirt. His tie had a rich navy ground with a generously spaced foulard pattern in white, and his pocket square was navy with a white border.

This is another high contrast suiting combination that is very flattering for Joe. We communicate with our face, therefore we want people to focus on our face and not be distracted by our clothes. The way to accomplish this is to wear clothes that produce the same, or a similar amount of contrast between our hair color and skin complexion. The end effect is that it helps to frame our face, so that when we communicate, people will be drawn unconsciously to looking at face and not our clothing.

Booger McFarland – Analyst

Booger wore a Savile Row favorite – a single-breasted peal lapel marine blue bird’s eye suit. He wore it with an elegant navy, light blue, and white antique stripe shirt, that was complimented by a wide scale burgundy and blue stripe tie. His pocket square was medium blue with a white border.

As I’ve stated many times, that key to wearing patterns together is understanding scale. Once again this is demonstrated with Booger’s shirt and tie combination. The stripes in Booger’s tie are much wider than the stripes in his shirt and therefore don’t conflict with one another due to their difference in scale.

John Parry – Rules and Officiating Analyst

John wore a medium blue glen plaid suit with a light blue window pane over-check in it. He wore it with a multi-blue antique stripe shirt, and a light brown woven ground tie that had a generously spaced navy and light blue foulard pattern in it. His pocket square was light brown with a white border.

John’s outfit also features 3 different patterns together however because their scales are different, they all work and harmonize together. More importantly, the color palette in John’s outfit is very flattering and ideal for his personal coloring. The blues in his suit, shirt, and tie highlighted his blue eyes, and the primary color of his tie (light brown) is his hair color.
