Your Inside Scoop to the Suits and Styles of the ESPN Monday Night Football Analyst Team
Joe Tessitore – Play by Play Analyst
Joe made a powerful statement in a striking navy and grey outfit on Monday night. Joe wore a Savile Row favorite – a classic Oxford grey bird’s eye suit which was accompanied by a bold navy and light blue stripe shirt, and a brilliant navy ground tie with a generously spaced contrasting white foulard pattern on it. His pocket square was blue with a white border. Because Joe is the lead play by play announcer, he outfits are designed to be dressy and authoritative looking. The outfit is a great example of a power look but with style twist due to the sophisticated design of the shirt and tie.
Booger McFarland – Analyst
Keeping with the Savile Row theme, Booger also wore a bird’s eye suit but in an elegant Marine Blue and styled with a peak lapel. Marine blue had been a popular color on Savile Row in London for decades before it made it to the off the rack suit market here in the United States in the late 80s. His shirt was a multi-blue and white plaid, and his tie a burgundy ground with a blue teardrop pattern in it, complimented by his pocket square – blue with a white border. Booger’s role as a former player and the expert commentator on MNF gives him more flexibility in his clothing outfits, not necessarily in his color choices that serve to flatter his coloring, but in the areas of pattern and styling choices. Like our approach with Joe, the outfit Booger wore is a great example of Mark Rykken’s design approach of dressing individuals based on their public persona as well as their personality.
John Parry – Officiating and Rules Analyst
John wore a medium blue tic-weave suit – his shirt an evenly spaced bold blue and white striped shirt, and his tie was a red orange ground with a gold and navy teardrop print on it. His blue pocket square complete with a white border finished the outfit perfectly. The gold in John’s tie compliments his hair color and serves as another example of the importance of choosing the right accessories that will help to flatter the person’s individual coloring.
